The 2026 King’s Speech will be read by King Charles III on Wednesday 13 May at the State Opening of Parliament.
The speech will set out the UK government’s policy and legislative agenda for the new parliamentary session.
The Lords’ debates on the King’s Speech will take place over five days between 14 and 21 May, the expected principal topics for debate each day are listed below:
- Thursday 14 May (day 1): economic growth, trade and EU partnership
- Monday 18 May (day 2): justice, home affairs and the union
- Tuesday 19 May (day 3): education, culture, technology and energy security
- Wednesday 20 May (day 4): health, housing and transport
- Thursday 21 May (day 5): foreign affairs, international relations and defence
