Debate on the Displacement of Refugees and Migrants from Asia and Africa and the Measures Being Taken

By the end of 2014, the total population of concern to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) was 54.9 million persons. This included persons who were forcibly displaced (refugees, asylum-seekers, and internally displaced persons), those who have found a durable solution (returnees), as well stateless persons, most of whom had never been forcibly displaced. According to the UNHCR, under its mandate there were 4,623,181 refugees and 9,920,194 internally displaced people from Africa, and 8,711,972 refugees and 15,179,635 internally displaced people from Asia in 2014.
